Tasting notes
Score 90/100 · Drink 2014-2018, Robert Parker, Aug 2014

The fully mature 2003 La Fleur de Bouard exhibits a dark ruby/plum color along with beautiful, fresh, blueberry and black raspberry scents intermixed with licorice and graphite. An amazing wine that sold for a song eleven years ago, it should continue to drink well for 3-4 years. The fact that proprietor Hubert de Bouard was able to achieve these two brilliant efforts from a satellite appellation of Pomerol is remarkable.

Some green (Cab Franc?) notes on the nose. Then an inkiness and a preponderance of oak – even green oak? Not well melded and difficult to imagine it harmonious. See also Le Plus de La Fleur de Bouard. (JR)
