Tasting notes
Brilliant ruby-red. Sexy, oak-spiced red and dark berry scents are complemented by deeper notes of licorice, dark chocolate and mocha. Rich, lively and precise on the palate, offering sappy black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a subtle note of candied rose. Dusty tannins come up slowly on the finish, which features sweet, vanilla-accented red fruit qualities and a touch of spicecake.

The 2010 Heru Pinot Noir is muted on the nose with light dark cherry and raspberry fruit, but missing a little presence. The palate is fresh on the entry and exhibits a little more weight than the 2009, with sappy blackberry fruit, with a little spice and stone towards the strict finish. You just want this Pinot to “let go” a little more. Drink 2013-2017. Succeeding vintages, 2010 and 2011, will have lower alcohol and a more open system than the current vertical trellis system. Vina Ventisquero is a well-known Chilean winery that began in 2000. The winery is located in the Maipo Valley and head-winemaker, Felipe Tosso, oversees a wide portfolio that now includes vines from Apalta in Colchagua and Casablanca.
