Tasting notes
Mid deep ruby with orange rim. Opulent but not rich, just right with notes of tobacco leaf and brooding sweet dark fruit core. Seems this had some oak with sweet notes of pasticceria. Lively cherry. With air more and more genuine Sangiovese and with real depth. More mature on the palate, great acidity, and truly opens up with layers and layers of red fruit. Pure breed. (WS)

The 2006 Chianti Classico Grosso Sanese (100% Sangiovese) is an intense, full-bodied offering with the density of fruit taking center stage over aromatic development and delineation, qualities that will require time in bottle to emerge. This is a remarkably harmonious, pure Chianti that coats the palate with superb richness without coming across as heavy. Sweet, perfumed notes emerge on the finish, rounding out this complete and simply delicious Chianti.

Il Palazzino is a great source for pure-breed Chiantis of notable personality. The Grosso Sanese in particular is one of the most unique wines being made in Tuscany.
