Tasting notes
The medium-to-dark ruby-colored 1997 Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots reveals rose, violet, and cherry aromas. This is an oily-textured, thick, and dense wine with excellent grip. Loads of tangy currants and assorted red berries are found in its medium-bodied, smile-inducing personality. Drink it over the next 6 years. Good fresh dark red. Complex, pungent aromas of raspberry, minerals, cocoa powder and exotic spices. Tighter, finer and more delineated in the mouth; younger and more reserved than the above. Berry flavor complicated by notes of mint and spice. Quite closed today, but vigorous for the vintage. Grivot says there's a war going on here between the terroir and the vintage.
