Tasting notes
The 2002 Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots sports a nose of roasted oak and red cherries. Powerful, deep, and medium to full-bodied, it offers loads of candied red cherries before tightening in the finish, revealing firm tannin that demands cellaring. Projected maturity: 2008-2018. Good deep ruby-red. Blackberry, chocolate and pungent oak spices on the nose. Dense, ripe, full and chocolatey but with good tangy flavor. In contrast to the stylish Beaumonts , this is a more masculine style. Finishes with firm tannins and a suggestion of earth.
Cask sample. Great whack of fruit yet with great delicacy and life too. Surprising how well the (substantial) tannins of these Vosne-Romanées are covered by such intensity of fruit. Slightly sterner than the Beaux Monts but equally fine. (JR)

About the producer

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
