The 2005 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is certainly outstanding, and it's probably in the middle of its prime drinking window. Grilled apricots, honeyed orange, grilled bread, and subtle caramelized peach notes all define the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied, with a pure, layered, elegant texture, plenty of sweetness, and sufficient acidity to keep this clean, lively, and incredibly enjoyable. It will evolve for another 10-15 years, but it's terrific today.

The 2005 Lafaurie-Peyraguey offers dried honey, hazelnut, almond and quince. It's finely delineated though missing a little vigour. The palate is well-balanced with fine definition. Honeyed in texture with hints of toffee apple and praline towards the finish. I would drink this in the next few years.

The 2005 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a wine that has gradually crept up in quality in recent years. As before, the bouquet is replete with lovely apricot and fig scents, subtle traces of buttered toast and almond developing with aeration and sporting fine delineation. The palate is mid-weight for this property, armed with impressive tension and a citrus-fresh, quite vivacious finish. I love the aftertaste of lemon curd and praline. Not the best Lafaurie-Peyraguey, but it does the job with minimum fuss. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at home.
