Soft yellow in colour, showing cold ash aromatics. Silky in texture, acacia, black tea, has grip and personality, but softens through the finish and I would suggest going for the 2013 or 2014 for a better expression of well-aged white Pessac. Harvest September 5 to 26, 40% new oak for ageing.

Tasted blind at the Southwold 2012 tasting. I adored the 2012 Bouscaut Blanc from barrel, but nothing prepared me for how brilliantly it is performing in bottle. To put that into perspective, tasted blind against the likes of Haut Brion Blanc and La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, when average scores were totted up, this came out on top by some margin. It has a vivacious bouquet with vibrant lime flower, Granny Smith apple, dandelion and lemon peel that is intense and wonderfully focused. It is difficult not to love these aromatics. The palate is very well balanced, intense with good body, the acidity perfectly judged, and yet the overall impression is one of a white Bordeaux with a seriously long and healthy future ahead. This is seriously fine. Tasted January 2016.

Tasted blind. Relatively deep lemon colour. Sappy, exciting nerve in the vegetal spectrum with a hint of matchstick. Delicate and racy. Very nice light hand here resulting in a really nervy wine. (This also did well in 2011.) Jan 2016, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2016-2021
