I must confess that I never took to the 2003 d'Angludet since tasting it from barrel and I am not enamored with it now. The bouquet offers scents of mulberry and stewed prune. The heat deprives it of delineation, though there is a little freshness here. The palate is sweet and fleshy with low acidity, though my main criticism is that it’s flat on the finish. Drink up. Tasted at the château.

Dark crimson. Thick and sweet-smelling. Then a bit green on the end. Very blustering and awkward with those furry tannins. Not comfortable at all – a bit stewed and green. All the shortcomings of 2003 rolled into one wine. (Average group score: 14.5) (JR)

Deep red. Currant, plum and coffee on the nose. Offers a slightly jammy roasted fruit character but also possesses a good spine of acids and tannins. A tad dry on the finish. Drink over the next ten years.

A sleeper of the vintage, the deep plum/ruby-colored 2003 exhibits a sexy, fragrant perfume of flowers, black cherry jam, licorice, and barbecue spice. Rich, velvety-textured, medium-bodied, charming, and expansive, it should drink well for 10-12 years.
