Score 81/100 · Drink 1990, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
The 1981 is medium ruby, with some amber at the edge. The relatively tightly knit nose reluctantly gives up aromas of dusty earth, old barrels, and some crisp, curranty fruit. In the mouth, it has the leanness and compactness that typifies the 1981 vintage. It is close to maturity and well made. This is a lighter-styled, yet pleasant d'Angludet. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 11/90.
