2009 Meursault Tete de Murger

From Casse-Têtes and Murgers. Light nose. Smoky overlay over extremely youthful fruit. This is a baby! But has lots of density and intensity with excellent acidity. (JR)

The 2009 Meursault Tete Murger Javiller (from “Les Castet” and “Murger de Monthelie”) has a strict, linear bouquet with lovely poise, subtle scents of wild honey emerging with time. The palate has great attack at the front of the mouth. It is underpinned by crisp green fruit – subtle notes of gooseberry and cooking apple followed by a nicely defined, unpretentious finish. Very fine. Drink now-2019.

(no new oak): Pale yellow. Somewhat exotic, complex aromas of peach, orange, hazelnut, pie crust and vanilla. Enters the mouth thick and fruity but remains brisk and energetic straight through to its tactile, rich finish. Solid back-end minerality gives this ripe, rich fruit bomb a drier impression than the nose and entry would suggest. This terrific 2009 Meursault should evolve gracefully.
