Score 93/100 · Drink 2004-2011, Robert Parker, Oct 2004
The blockbuster 2003 Avignon GSM (53% Grenache, 39% Shiraz, and the rest Mourvedre as well as a touch of Viognier) was aged 12 months in 7-8 year-old French oak. The Grenache component dominates this gorgeous, value-priced 2003. Aromas of strawberry liqueur, sweet cherries, herbes de Provence, pepper, and licorice emerge from this full-bodied, velvety-textured effort. The Mourvedre element has provided good structure and glorious fruit concentration. Drink this mouthfilling red over the next 5-7 years.
