This is an hedonistic, plump, rich, juicy 2003 St. Emilion that has held up reasonably well. A dark plum/ruby color is accompanied by lots of fig, jammy cherry and a confiture of black currants. Round, sexy, lush and medium-bodied, there is not a hard edge to be found in this sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

Deep crimson. Notably deep colour! Laurence Brun says they are especially proud of this vintage. Very savoury, distinctive nose. Then pretty sweet on the palate – and lots of oak. Could do with more acidity. A bit tiring. (JR)
Dark crimson. Rather appetising dark chocolate cocktail of flavours on the nose. Relatively impenetrable but good and swashbuckling and confident. A tea leaf perfume. Pretty good constitution with reasonably ripe tannins. A success! Though pretty sweet. (JR)
