Tasting notes
The 1990 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d'Or, tasted blind, has a tight nose with brambly black fruit interlaced with Margaux-like, violet scents. This feels linear and structured with impressive depth, sinewy and forceful. It is more a wine that demands attention instead of a wine that wants to be your friend. It is certainly evolving at a glacial pace and who knows, in 10 years time it might be an utter delight. I just could not quite warm to it like I expected.
