A sleeper of the vintage from proprietor Thierry Valette, this strong effort was fashioned from yields of 24 hectoliters per hectare and achieved 14% natural alcohol. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by notes of lavender, mulberries, black raspberries and a wild floral component that I could not identify. Rich, deep, savory and broad with supple tannins, this beauty should be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years.

Odd metallic nose. Very fresh acidity, too fresh for the fruit weight. (JH)
