Tasting notes
Altesino's flagship offering, the 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, exhibits a dark plum/garnet color in addition to superb, complex aromas of dried flowers, tobacco, cedar, black fruits, earth, and truffles. It is full-bodied, with abundant tannin as well as a sweet attack, a complex, savory, expansive mid-palate, and a long finish. Ideally, it requires 1-2 years of cellaring, but it can be drunk now, or cellared for two decades. A Leonardo Locascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
