Tightly coiled aromas of white peach, pear and flowers. Quite dry and youthfully imploded, showing noteworthy precision and energy but little in the way of early appeal. Dominated today by stony terroir, this understated premier cru calls for six or seven years of cellaring. Pillot described it as "technical, not modern in style." This will almost certainly merit an even higher rating as it approaches peak drinkability.

Not giving much away on the nose. Then fine intensity and energy on the palate. Quite savoury at the moment but there's plenty of citrus fruit underneath. Long. (JH)
High-pitched aromas of minerals, dusty spices, lavender and truffle. Chewy, juicy and youthfully austere; like chewing on rock. Harmonious acidity gives a light touch to the wine's lemon and mineral flavors. A wine of finesse, showing little sign of its new oak component. Finishes lemony, bright and long.
