Score 85/100 · Drink 2014, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2014

The 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is the best of the bunch, with a lifted and slightly smoky bouquet that demonstrating more vigor than either the Les Macherelles or Les Vergers. The palate has a creamy opening: harmonious in the mouth but with some dryness disturbing the finish. Drink now. When I began my Burgundy odyssey, I used to drink a lot of Domaine Guy Amiot’s wines. However, in recent years, I must confess that I encountered a number of bottles that appear to suffer premature oxidation from around 2006 or 2007 onward. Given the chance to reacquaint myself with the 2011s, I wanted to see how the wines are performing and to be honest I still found the wine too advanced given their youth and contrasted with other 2011s. It is always a shame when a grower that formed the basis of my understanding of the region does not replicate those formative experiences, but I hope that the wines can improve in the future. Fine citrus aroma and something very very lightly floral as well as creamy to add complexity. Softer on the palate than I expected, quite gentle in the mouth but persistent, if not especially powerful, with a mineral finish. (JH)

As is usually the case this is wonderfully elegant with its expressive nose of citrus, wet stone, dried flowers, spice and herbal tea nuances. The silky, cool and sophisticated medium weight flavors ooze a fine minerality that adds a sense of refinement and tension to the intense, very dry and beautifully well-balanced finish that delivers excellent depth and persistence. One to consider. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2017+
