Tasting notes
A lovely Gruaud but not as great as expected. No nonsense '85 with spicy cedar, tobacco flavors, medium-to-full body, medium tannins and a rather short finish. Time will tell.--The Bordeaux 50. Drink now. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1994.

The delicious 1985 Gruaud-Larose has evolved beautifully. It exhibits a lovely, sweet, fragrant bouquet of berry fruit, truffles and smoky oak. On the palate, the wine is fat, long, forward for Gruaud, medium to full-bodied, and deep. Anticipated maturity: Now-2003. Last tasted, 5/93. Aug 1993, www.robertparker.com
