The 1973 La Mission Haut-Brion's only virtue is that it makes the 1972 look better than it is. This is musty and unripe on the tertiary nose, while the palate feels hollow and austere and (thankfully) very short on the ephemeral finish. Past its best. Tasted at the La Mission Haut-Brion vertical in London.

Ch. la Mission Haut-Brion – sister estate of Ch. Haut-Brion and part of the Clarence Dillon stable – is one of the greatest estates in all of Bordeaux. Based in Pessac-Léognan but not officially classified, it produces outstanding red and white wines.
