(50% aged in barrels, of which one-third were new) Citrus peel, mint and obvious minerality on the nose. Distinctly less open than the premier crus and Blanchots but there's plenty of density here. Ripe acids and a strong crushed stone flavor give this very backward wine a light touch. Finishes distinctly dry and tight, in need of five or six years of cellaring.

Tense and nervous, yet with multiple layers. Great minerality. A hint of nuts. Richness makes it approachable earlier than Les Blanchots. (JR)

Very pale green-tinged color. Pure, vibrant aromas of lime, snap pea, crushed stone and pepper. Very ripe but very reticent, with sharply focused flavors of minerals, mint, pepper and powdered stone. Less obviously dense than the Blanchots but wonderfully pure and impeccably balanced. Finishes with excellent grip. There's a lot of wine here.
