Tasting notes
Mas Alta is a project of renowned French winemaker/negociant Michel Tardieu. The 2005 Artigas is 60% Garnacha, 35% Carinena, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 15 months in new French oak. Deep crimson-colored, the nose reveals pain grille, pencil lead, violets, lavender, blueberry, and wild cherry. Smooth-textured, spicy, and with good depth, this is a solid Priorat for drinking over the next 8-10 years. Importer: Eric Solomon, European Cellars, Charlotte, NC; tel. (704) 358-1565

(60% garnacha, 35% carinena and 5% cabernet sauvignon) Bright ruby. Floral-accented strawberry and raspberry aromas are brightened by piquant minerality. Focused, brisk red fruits deliver a spicy punch and show impressive sweetness. Fine-grained tannins hold things together and carry through the long, vibrant finish. This is quite pretty.
