Tasting notes
A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot from the multi-talented Robert Foley, this opaque purple-colored 2004 Claret displays the Midas touch exhibited by Foley for many years. Sweet aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, charcoal and spice are followed by a beautifully etched, full-bodied wine with sweet tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a hint of background oak. Long, lush and opulent, it can be enjoyed over the next decade. Tel. (707) 965-2669

(90% cabernet sauvignon and 10% merlot) Saturated medium ruby. Very dark aromas of blackberry, licorice, minerals, tar and molten chocolate. Wonderfully ripe, thick and supple but not overly sweet. In fact, this tannic, brooding, youthfully backward wine is distinctly clenched today and not yet expressing its inherent complexity. Finishes with a medicinal austerity and big, dusty tannins. This boasts terrific fruit but needs four or five years of cellaring.
