Deep red-ruby. Pure, aromatic nose combines cassis, blackberry and bitter chocolate. At once sweet and bracing, with vibrant, very primary flavors of black fruits and violet. Strong acidity contributes to the wine's impression of power and thrust. Young, solidly structured and quite long. Like the Boivin, this may well merit a 90-plus rating with bottle aging.

Medium ruby. Slightly reduced but explosive aromas of raw crushed raspberry, violet, game and espresso; distinctly wild. Then sweet, rich and large-scaled for Marsannay, with an impressively layered texture. Finishes very long, with sweet, rich tannins. Very impressive.
