The basic cuvee of 2012 La Riviere is composed of 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. It exhibits sweet, herbaceously-tinged red and black currant fruit intermixed with notions of damp earth, underbrush and spice. It should drink nicely for 4-5 years. This fascinating medieval fortress (the site of many movies) produces two cuvees under the ownership of the large broker, James Gregoire.

Deepest crimson. Dusty and a touch green on the nose. Green and hard. (JH)
