The 2000 Cepparello, all-Sangiovese, a dark garnet in color, is endowed with the full panoply of varietal aromas and flavors, currants and wild cherries, leather, tobacco, and game in a solid, medium-bodied format, well sustained and supported by the fine-grained tannins. Drink: 2005-2014. There are few men in Tuscan wine I admire more than Paolo De Marchi, for me the number one producer in the region for the variety and consistent high quality of his wines. About the producer
Situated north of Castellina, on the western side of Chianti Classico, Isole e Olena was created by the De Marchi family in the 1950s and has since become one of the region’s leading names. It is renowned for its top bottling Cepparello, a pure Sangiovese, as well as its brilliant Chardonnay.
