Score 89+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
Bright medium red. Sappy red fruits complicated by earth and leather. Drier and spicier than the '98 Albarella, but also a more muscular style of Barolo. Offers lovely lift and complexity in the middle palate, then finishes with youthfully tough tannins and a noticeable oakiness. A serious '98, in need of at least a few years of additional bottle aging.
