Score 91/100 · Drink 2002, Robert Parker, Oct 1999
The brilliant Condrieu Les Chaillets Vieilles Vignes (aged in 100% used barriques) exhibits good acidity, weight, and richness. A honeyed tropical fruit/apricot-scented and flavored wine, it possesses drop dead purity as well as attention grabbing, explosive aromatics. Drink this symmetrical Condrieu over the next 2-3 years. From Cuilleron's oldest vines and ripest fruit; all done in barriques. Subtle floral perfume; less fruity but finer than the Petite Cote. Fatter and sweeter in the mouth, but also solidly structured, with very good precision of flavor. Finishes long and spicy.
