Good full red. Wild, somewhat reduced nose offers dark cherry, leather, Cuban tobacco and game. Fat, dense and sweet though less fruity and open than the premier cru. Tighter now but has plenty of texture and stuffing. This needs aging.

Deep red. Musky aromas of black raspberry, dark cherry, coffee and animal fur. Sweet and dense, but also high-pitched and tightly wound, in fact rather imploded today. Finishes firmly tannic and muscular. I assume this is what Dugat meant when he described his 2004s as understated.
