Tasting notes
Ruby-red. Roasted plum, toffee, game and nutty oak on the nose. Lush, fat and stuffed with fruit. A wonderfully pliant 2002 with noteworthy density and richness. Sound acids and suave but firm-edged tannins give this excellent balance. Finishes very long and ripe. This is even stronger than it appeared to be from barrel last spring.

A beautiful effort for the vintage, the evolved dense ruby/purple-colored 2002 is already performing well. It offers smoky, toasty oak, jammy black currant, cranberry, and kirsch aromas, medium body, sweet tannin, and fine purity, length, and harmony. Enjoy it now and over the next 12+ years.
Saturated ruby-red. Liqueur-like black fruits, chocolate, chicory and sweet tobacco on the nose. Dense and sweet in the mouth, but with the lively acids of the vintage framing the currant and licorice flavors. Rather suave, soil-inflected wine with very good length.
