Not harvested until the end of September (which is very late for this cuvee), the 2008 Condrieu la Doriane is still drinking beautifully today and offers a classic, straight, textbook profile. Apricots, citrus, minerals and floral notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied, lively, pure Condrieu that should be drunk over the coming year or two.

The 2008 E. Guigal Condrieu La Doriane blossoms in the glass and offers up perfumed, intense aromatics of dried pineapples, peach, white flowers and riveting underlying minerals and chalk. It’s medium to full bodied on the palate with a full, almost unctuous texture, beautiful delineation and edge, vibrant acidity and a super long finish. Few wines offer this level of fruit and depth paired with vibrant acidity and focus. Drink this stunning white over the next 10 years.

(100% new barriques Pale gold color. Citrus, vanilla bean, smoke, candied ginger and crushed rocks on the fragrant nose. Fat, ripe and gently sweet, with very good clarity and cut to the flavors of orange, peach, smoky brown spices and minerals. With air the oak notes recede into the lush fruit, where they stay hidden until the tail end of the finish. This tactile, energetic and sexy wine is pretty primary right now and Guigal thinks the oak will not be playing much of a role after a couple of years.

Quite a deep gold. Hint of putty and rich almonds plus honeysuckle. Much less obvious than most vintages, These, the best vines, are always ripe by the end of August, Marcel G says. Lush and ripe and yet with freshness. Nice depth and subtle finish – though not very long. (JR)
