Score 94/100 · Robert Parker, Feb 2001
The 1999 Condrieu La Doriane emerges from Guigal's own vineyard, which he crop-thinned twice to lower yields. A stunning Condrieu, it offers intense aromas of peaches, apricots, and bananas, as well as a long, multilayered, rich, full-bodied palate with exquisite purity and intensity. Deeper-toned aromas of apricot, smoky oak, mint, lichee and licorice. At once more concentrated and more fruity than the normale, but also uncompromisingly dry, with a strong flavor of apricot skin and spicy evidence of the 80% new barriques Not currently showing more length than the basic bottling, but this is richer wine.
