Score 93/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound
A very spicy nose that is earthier still and also notably sauvage in character combines with ripe aromas of black raspberry, plum and exotic tea that are again trimmed in enough wood to notice. There is a beguiling mouth feel to the suave, velvety and seductive broad-shouldered flavors that benefit from an abundance of sap that serves to buffer the moderately firm tannins on the pepper and mineral-infused finish that offers excellent persistence though the wood resurfaces. My score assumes that the wood will be successfully integrated in time and if it does this should be a very impressive Corton. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2026+
