Tasting notes
An exceptional vintage port, this saturated purple/black-colored effort offers up sweet, jammy notes of blackberries, licorice, and spice. Full-bodied, rich, and moderately sweet, with huge amounts of glycerin, ripeness, and well-integrated tannin, this blockbuster port can be drunk young, but should evolve nicely for 15-20 years. A sleeper as well as an excellent value. Importer: Kysela Pere et Fils, Winchester, VA; tel (540) 722-9228

Dark ruby-violet. Superripe, slightly stewy aromas of dark berries and earth. Sweet, lush and fat, with good concentration, but lacks real verve and nuance. The faint cooked quality repeats in the mouth. Finishes with drying tannins and a hint of medicinal black cherry flavor.
