Score 87-88/100 · Drink 2003-2008, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2003

Fresh black raspberries compose the aromatic profile of the medium to dark ruby-colored 2001 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Perrieres. Light to medium-bodied and possessing excellent depth of fruit, this wine offers a spice-laden blackberry-flavored personality. Its finish reveals a hint of stemmy/woody tannin that kept its score from being higher. Projected maturity: now-2008. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524

Cask sample. Rich and full and beguiling. Very charming. Dry end. Quite astringent. Fresher than Aux Chaignots. (JR)

Bright red. Subtly complex, less fruit-dominated nose hints at truffle, smoke and earth. Fatter and broader in the mouth, with a stronger impression of extract. Very consistent from start to sweet, lingering finish. Tannins are dusty and fine.
