A little less deeply coloured than the 2006 with broader violet rim. Lifted raspberry and cherry nose. Seems stylistically different from other Camartina vintages. Fragrant, elegant, and lifted sweet fruit with powerful grainy tannin. Wait. (WS)

The 2007 Camartina, a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese, is relatively understated in this vintage. Crushed flowers, berries and subtle French oak are woven together in a fine, silky fabric of notable class. The 2007 possesses terrific clarity and focus, if not quite the richness of the finest vintages. My impression is this will be a relatively early-drinking Camartina.

Querciabella has been on a roll over the last few years. I can’t say enough good things about these wines, all of which merit your serious consideration. Querciabella doesn’t make a big deal about the fact that their vineyards are now biodynamically farmed, but then again they don’t have to?the wines speak for themselves. About the producer
Literally translating as “beautiful oak”, Querciabella was created in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni. A pioneer in Chianti, he started farming biodynamically and experimenting with both varieties and winemaking – one result of which was Camartina, the property’s flagship Super Tuscan.
