Tasting notes
Monforte d'Alba. Deep ruby, with just the beginning of orange. Lifted cassis and hint of leather. Grainy, gripping tannins and powerfully aromatic sweet and candied fruit. Rich finish. (WS)

he 2007 Barolo Bussia is a huge, beautiful wine that sweeps across the palate with tons of dark fruit, new leather, spices and licorice. Mentholated, balsamic notes appear soon after, adding layers of depth and complexity as this magnificent Barolo gradually opens up in the glass. The Bussia shows tremendous freshness and a chiseled, beautifully articulated personality that should allow it to age gracefully over the coming years. The finish builds with remarkable intensity and polish, in the signature Parusso style. Vintage 2007 was not an easy one in Bussia. Hail destroyed much of the production, forcing Parusso to be especially selective. There are just 2,500 rather than the more typical 10,000 bottles of the Bussia in 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. Importer: Montecastelli Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 414-4898
