Tasting notes
Classic, powerful and intense – the 2009 L’Apparita is glossy and glass-staining. An amazing spectrum of perfume, smoke and spicy aromatics emerges from the glass. It’s complex with very fine but abundant tannins that add structure. This is a serious wine, with impressive freshness and energy, given the heavy overweight wines that others in the region produced in the vintage. Glorious.

Powerful and dense in the glass, the 2009 L’Apparita packs a serious punch. There is an explosive energy to the 2009 that is impossible to miss. At the same time, the wine exudes freshness, especially within the context of the warm year. Expressive notes add lift to the radiant fruit in this super-expressive Apparita.
It is amazing how much a little decanting can do for the 2009 L'Apparita. Initially tight and reticent, the 2009 blossoms into a stunning, open, beautifully radiant wine that captivates all of the senses. I visited the estate in 2009, during the middle of a huge heat wave. I expected to find a much bigger wine, but ultimately, the 2009 is medium in body and all about finesse. This is a fabulous Apparita graced with exquisite aromatics and tons of pure class. I imagine the 2009 will enjoy a broad drinking window, but like all Apparitas, the best comes with time.
Stunning as usual, the 2009 L’Apparita (100% Merlot) starts off slow but builds steady momentum and intensity. This is a seamless and beautifully integrated expression that sees fine contrast between acidity, structure and fruity extract. The wine is still tight, so give it time to complete its bottle evolution. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. Importer: The Sorting Table, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 603-1461
