The 2012 Fourcas Hosten has more definition and focus than the 2011, offering higher-toned and more vivacious black fruit laced with cedar and crushed stone. There is something almost Pauillac-like about this Listrac. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and well-judged acidity. It firms up toward the fresh finish, which has just the right amount of dryness and grip and an appealing marine tinge. This is worth seeking out.

Never one of my favorite wines, this 2012 has slightly more fruit built into it, but it tastes angular and finishes with some austerity. It is medium-bodied and has decent, loamy, earthy scents and red currants. Drink it over the next 4-6 years.
Fully ripe dark fruit. Lightly perfumed. Good harmony on the mid palate, lightish but refined and fresh. Maybe the tannins are just slightly drying on the finish. (JH)
Ripe blackcurrant fruit. And strongly aromatic. Pretty mean streak in this wine even though it certainly has aromatic appeal but it just has no follow through. (JR)
