Tasting notes
There are 40,000 bottles of the 2002 Macon-Milly-Lamartine, fermented and aged in 40 to 50 hectoliter foudres. Minerals and stones drenched in Chartreuse can be found throughout this excellent wine’s aromatic as well as flavor profiles. It is light to medium-bodied, satiny-textured, and seamless. Drink it over the next 3 years. Readers should note that Dominique Lafon farms his Macon vineyards organically and is moving towards converting them to biodynamic viticulture in the near future. Full, lively, and rich. Respectable, but no better than the 2001. Simple, easy, fruity, and very open. (JR)
(from a steep slope behind the winery) Pale, bright yellow. Grapefruit and lemon cream aromas. Denser and sweeter than the 2001 version, with more body and breadth. A fairly round, nicely intense wine with attractive citrus and floral flavors and good length. This is about 12. 6% alcohol, with no chaptalization.
