Tasting notes
Braille back label. Fragrant, even a little exotic, but also a spiced savoury edge. Lovely Mencía aromatics. Finesse in texture and weight and balance. Real charm with a peppery elegance at the end even though there is that savoury leathery note in the middle. (JH)

The 2005 Ultreia De Valtuille is also 100% Mencia from Bierzo. Of the 315 cases produced, a mere 15 will make it to the USA. Opaque purple-colored, it offers greater complexity aromatically and on the palate. It has an exotic, mineral-dominated nose with lots of floral elements, blueberry, black cherry, and black raspberry. Layered, opulent, yet elegant, this lengthy wine has 6-8 years of aging potential and will provide much pleasure through 2025. These are brilliant, artisanal, hand-crafted wines that words simply cannot begin to describe. They must be experienced to be believed. Importer: Patrick Mata, Ole Imports; www.oleimports.com
