Good deep red. Ripe cherry and crushed rock on the nose. Pure and pretty but tightly wound and youthfully imploded; not at all a sweet style for this typically very ripe and sometimes outsized grand cru. Subdued today but boasts excellent inner-mouth tension and juicy persistence. Needs time.

Good bright red. Deeper but less expressive on the nose than the Perrieres, offering a strong impression of smoky minerality. Then large-scaled, thick and horizontal, but with its fruit and spice notes currently a bit muted by oak (nearly 100% new). This ripe, dense wine has the stuffing to buffer its big dusty tannins but is not currently showing the clarity of fruit of the best 2011s here.
