The 2010 Château Lafleur-Gazin is showing beautifully, with a plush, layered, concentrated style that has some evolution while bringing ample fruit and freshness. Black cherries, saddle leather, graphite, leafy herbs, and floral notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a deep, layered mid-palate, ripe and still present tannins, and a great finish. It's in the early stages of its prime drinking window and has another two decades of longevity. Drink 2025-2045.

Bright, deep red-ruby. Superripe aromas of raspberry, mocha and smoky oak. Smooth and fairly deep; rather refined for this Pomerol but the wine's very good vinosity and medicinal reserve leave it a bit unyielding today. Not especially fleshy or deep but nicely balanced and fresh, finishing with a moderate load of tannins. This needs a few years of cellaring.

Always a somewhat rustic style of Pomerol, the 2010 merits one of the highest ratings I have ever given this vineyard. With considerable opulence, a chocolate, mocha, black cherry and berry spectrum of aromas and flavors, medium to full-bodied and a macho, masculine feel to it, this wine has more finesse than normal, but never loses its relatively powerful, chunky style. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Lively dark crimson. Meaty nose. Lots of plush ripeness initially and then still a bit inky. This is serious Pomerol as opposed to hedonistic sort. Very dark and inky on the finish, with some slightly green astringency. (JR)
