This tough-edged, rustic-styled wine’s bouquet reveals hints of sweet and sour cherries, roasted herbs, and spice, but is dominated by damp earth-like scents. Well-made and correct, but uninspiring, it can be consumed over the next 7-8 years.

Dark red. Distinctly green aromas of menthol, fresh herbs, flowers and minerals. Then supple and surprisingly sweet in the mouth, with flavors of raw berries and herbs. Finishes with dusty tannins and a repeating greenness.

Deep healthy crimson. Sweet, ripe, slightly floral nose. Real perfume. Very broad palate attack. Quite meaty and seductive. Dry tannins on the finish but lots of interesting fruit beforehand. An early developer. (JR)
