Score 93/100 · Drink 1994-2002, Robert Parker, Jan 1997

La Voniere is a mini-cuvee of 7,500 bottles that utilizes the maximum 20% Viognier permitted under French law. The result is an immensely fragrant wine that smells as much like a Condrieu as it does a Cote Rotie with its peach, apricot, and honeysuckle scents, and smoky, black-raspberry aromas. Because of the high percentage of Viognier, the wine has a dark ruby color, a lush, velvety texture, and gobs of expansive ripe fruit. I was blown away by the elegance and sensual qualities of the 1991. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Last tasted 6/94.
