Score 89/100 · Drink 2007-2017, Robert Parker, Feb 2007

I loved the seductiveness of the 2004 Fonsalette Cotes du Rhone with its lush black cherry, herbal, and dusty soil notes. It is ripe, medium-bodied, elegant, pure, and well-balanced. It should drink well for 7-10 years. The 2005s at this renowned estate, both the Cotes du Rhones from the Fonselette estate and the Chateauneuf du Papes, are cool-climate style wines with some austerity but admirable delicacy and lightness. I didn’t think they were among the vintage’s strongest efforts, but they are certainly very much in keeping with the style of past Jacques Reynaud wines. Importer: Martine’s Wines, Novato, CA; tel. Medium red. Intense cherry, red berry and tapenade scents, with a complicating garrigue character. Pure, racy and fresh, showing an energetic quality and precise raspberry and wild strawberry flavors. Finishes bright and long, with a tangy lingering mineral note.
