Score 88/100 · David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Aug 2007

Pierre-Yves Tijou and his sons offer a wide array of wines – and from numerous vintages simultaneously – including many user-friendly and well-priced examples of both dry and sweet Chenin. The 2004 Savennieres Clos des Perrieres Alix picked up its nickname due to the birth of a grandchild, but is the Tijous’only 2004 bottling from the Perrieres. With grapefruit rind, beeswax, kirsch, and a veritable bouquet garni of herbs in the nose, it comes onto the palate with remarkable delicacy and transparency for its appellation or its vintage. The Tijous think their windy, exposed location enhanced those effects – and kept the fruit botrytis-free. Meaty, nutty and milled grain notes on the palate suggest white Burgundy. A faint but not unattractive bitterness creeps into the discrete, refined finish. Importer: Rosenthal Wine Merchant, Pine Plains, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990
