Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2005-2012, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2004

A fresh wine of outstanding depth, the black cherry and spice-scented 2002 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Roncieres offers a medium-bodied character packed with dark fruits and minerals. This ripe yet structured effort should be drunk between 2005 and 2012. Importer: Diageo Chateau and Estate Wines Company, New York, NY; tel. (212) 419-1400

Medium red. Ripe, sappy aromas of redcurrant, cherry and earth. Sweet, lush and nuanced, with perfumed flavors of red fruits and spices, complicated by notes of stone and wild herbs. Nicely creamy wine with an attractive juicy quality. Finishes with fine tannins and good aromatic hang time. Rather elegant for south-side Nuits-Saint-Georges.
