Tasting notes
The 2008 Le Dix de Los Vascos is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Carmenere, and 7% Syrah aged for 18 months in new French oak. It displays a captivating nose of wood smoke, pencil lead, violets, saddle leather, black plum, and blackberry reminiscent of a classified growth Bordeaux. This is followed by an elegant, firm, structured, nicely proportioned wine with intense flavors, good depth, and several years of aging potential. It offers a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2028. Vina Los Vascos is owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild. It was purchased in 1988 and was the first French viticultural investment in modern Chile. Importer: Pasternak Wine Imports, Harrison, NY; tel. (914) 630-8200

(85% cabernet sauvignon, 8% carmenere and 7% syrah) Vivid ruby. Cherry-cola, blueberry and vanilla on the nose, with notes of cigar box and licorice adding complexity. Deeply pitched dark fruit flavors are enlivened by a strong spicy quality and become smokier with air. Tightens up with air, with no loss of flesh and finishes with impressive breadth, length and lingering sweetness. This wine is balanced to age.
