Deep ruby. Smoky, toasty blackberry, cassis and dark plum aromas, with complicating suggestions of tobacco leaf, anise, black tea and charred meat. Fairly lush in texture, with good tannic structure helping to frame the powerful dark fruit, espresso and dark chocolate flavors. Persistent, gently oak-spicy finish. A very good vintage for this bottling.
