Tasting notes
The 2000 Barolo Vigna Rionda, with much tar and chocolate on its floral and red fruit nose, is round, fleshy, and sustained, somewhat ready for a Barolo from this vineyard but with a substantial, concentrated close which indicates that the wines will still be drinking well in 2018-2019. Medium red. Superripe aromas of plum, spices, marzipan and nuts. Full, sweet and plummy, with good depth of flavor. Like the Margheria and the Marenca, not particularly primary, but this is classic Barolo. The dusty tannins reach the front teeth.
